SoftBank will invest $500 million in robotics startup SkildAI Hetro solutions

SoftBank : According to Bloomberg and the Financial Times, SoftBank is in talks to invest $500 million in Skild AI, a software startup developing a basic model for robotics with a $4 billion valuation.

Last July, investors including Jeff Bezos, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Coatue Management contributed $300 million to the two-year-old company’s previous funding round, which valued it at $1.5 billion.

Last July, Skild founders Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta told TechCrunch that the company’s AI technology may be extended to a variety of robots. They stated that the generalized model can be adapted for a specific domain and application case.

The intersection of robotics and AI has witnessed substantial investor interest.

Over the recent year, investors, particularly Bezos, have increased their funding to AI-powered robotics companies.

Physical Intelligence, a business that received $400 million at a $2 billion pre-money value in November, claims to be building “brains” for a variety of robots. Jeff Bezos, Lux Capital, and Thrive Capital led the round.

Last February, Microsoft, OpenAI firm Fund, Nvidia, Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, and Jeff Bezos (via Bezos Expeditions) invested $675 million in Figure AI, a firm developing an AI-powered humanoid robot.
